I took my girl friend on a cruise this past summer and there was this close up magician we'd always catch either at the bar or at dinner time and he'd always perform a few tricks. As a magician myself, I pretty much reconized and knew how most of his tricks were done. However, one night, I caught him by the bar performing really good card tricks that was even baffling me. Couldn't figure out many of his tricks. I thought some of those tricks were using sleight-of-hand techniques, but I wasn't sure.
After about 45 minutes, he decided it was over so I spoke to him. We had a pretty good conversation and he told me that about 90% of the tricks he performed came from a book by Roberto Giobbi called Card College Light. In fact, every trick from the book required no sleight of hand techniques at all. I had already bought and read Card College volume 1 which was all about false shuffles, double card pick-ups and other card manipulation techquies so I was well aware of Roberto Giobbi's reputation.
I bought this book and can now performe some of those great tricks performed by the magician I met on my summer vacation. It's a very easy read and the hand drwan illustrations are very well done so that you understand exactly what he means when he explains something specific. I've included a few of these card tricks in my routines and have received some pretty good responses. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants great card tricks or for the casual card trick guy that doesn't want to spend time learning sleight-of-hand techniques in order to perform a great trick.
