Modern street magic comes to us from an age-old tradition. Street performers of various kind have been a part of civilization probably since there were streets! Along with musicians, mimes, jugglers, and the like, there have always been street magicians, performing table magic and sleight of hand. Of course, a street performer of that type needs showmanship even more than a deft hand at magic; audiences are likely to get bored unless you're funny or unusual, even if your magic is fantastic! By the way, "Street Magic" is also the name of a David Blaine television special.
